Jessica grew in up in the Hudson Valley, NY. Jessica's fondest memories are those surrounded by her family at the dinner table. The dinner table is where she learned life lessons about hard work and perseverance from her parents; lessons of healthy competition from her brothers; and more recently, lessons of acceptance and love from her husband.
Jessica graduated from Siena College in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Biology. During her 4 years at Siena College, she was one of the founding members of the Sister Thea Bowman Center for Women, which still exists today. She took full advantage of her college's opportunities and studied abroad in Tuscany, Italy, where she fully immersed herself into the culture by living with an Italian family and taking intensive Italian language classes. Jessica became first aid certified and worked as a volunteer first responder in Siena, Italy. In 2010, she went on to complete a Masters degree in Health Science and Physician Assistant Studies at Drexel University. Since then, Jessica has been practicing medicine in the clinical setting.
As a young woman, Jessica's relationship with food under went a complete transformation. Jessica was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Disease, Primary Amenorrhea, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Partial Seizures, and Esophageal Ulcers all before the age of 24. At that time, she felt hopeless, sick, and confused. Surprised and frustrated, the treatment plans she was given by her providers focused little on food intake and strongly focused on prescription medication therapies. Food, Jessica knows, is the counterpart to Western medicine. One cannot be exclusive to the other when it comes to healing and fueling our bodies.
Jessica was determined heal her body through making changes for her food choices and lifestyle habits. After her personal transformation and healing, Jessica was ready to help others who were facing similar obstacles. In 2016, Jessica founded Eat Your Way to Wellness, LLC.
